Thursday Reminders 12/20/18

What a busy Thursday! We started our day with Holidays Around the World. We learned about Chinese New Year from Mrs. Peet, Christmas in Italy from Mrs. Thompson, Diwali from Mrs. Allen, and Hanukkah (Israel) with Ms. Stiffler. As a surprise for doing a great job the first part of the year, second grade ate in the classroom for lunch! We shared our movie reward with the second grade as well so everyone could watch Polar Express. We ended the day with a Den Rally and Holiday Sing-Along. Week Overview

* Reading -  We read different holiday read-alouds -- Llama Llama Holiday Drama, Memoirs of an Elf, Samurai Santa, The 12 Sleighs of Christmas, and Hershel & the Hanukkah Goblins.
* Writing -  We published our How-To books!

* Science - We learned about magnets, magnetic force, magnetic fields, magnetic poles, and how the poles attract and repel.

* Math - We continued to learn how to regroup with subtraction.
