Overall, the kiddos are doing a fantastic job moving forward through second grade. All of the kids have made tremendous social and behavioral growth! We are all focusing on written explanations in both reading and math. They are well on their way to being "almost" third graders.

Week Overview
* Reading - We are still focusing on nonfiction books. We discussed how it's important to read many different books about a topic to become an expert. Next week, we will explore this idea more.
* Writing - We wrote How To books about something we know how to do. The kids really had to focus on adding details, even if they seemed silly. Ask about Mrs. H making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for an idea of this! We will start writing letters next week.

* Science - We started learning about weather this week! We reviewed the four seasons and learned about climate. Next week, we will learn about disaster weather and different types of weather.
* Math - We practiced counting money! We focused on how to make the same value two different ways and how to make $1.00. We will continue working with money next week.
