Quarter 2 report cards were posted to ParentVUE on Tuesday!
Our first week of reading groups went well! We had almost 100% attendance each day and the kids were engaged and participating. Please encourage your kiddo to have a whiteboard nearby as we will use them to do sight word work most days. The groups and times are now being posted with the daily blog posts for your reference.
The kids and I had a discussion this week about questions versus comments and the appropriate times to ask questions or make comments. We discussed this back in September/October so it was definitely time for a refresher. 👍 The kiddos are generally pretty good at being respectful of lessons and choosing the right times. However, over the past month, there has been a lot of questions and comments in the middle of lessons. We discussed how interrupting disrupts both the lesson and their classmates' learning and that is not respectful.
The second grade will be MAP testing for mid-year scores next week. I have chosen to split the class into their hybrid groups (Navy - Tuesday/Thursday & Maroon - Wednesday/Friday) so it should be a little easier to keep track of. 😉 The kids will still be expected to attend their specials and small groups each day, regardless of testing. If needed, I will give them extra time another day so that they can have a break before specials.
- The whole class will meet for morning announcements, morning meeting, and read aloud. Afterwards, the group that is testing will stay on, take a short break, and get started. The group that is NOT testing will leave and work on their asynchronous playlist.

- Again, please make sure that your child attends their specials! I will remind the kids, but with the changes in schedule, they may forget to attend their Synchronous specials.

- 2/5 - Asynchronous P.E.

Reminders for Friday, January 29th
- Please make sure your child has completed the following assignments on Seesaw. All these assignments are GRADED and due by 2/2.

- Cause and Effect Quiz (reading)
- Water Cycle/Seasons Quiz (science)
- Report Cards went out Tuesday, 1/26. You can check them in ParentVUE.
- MAP testing 2/2 - 2/5 in the morning
- Whole class will only meet from 8:00-8:30/8:45am.

Week Overview
*Morning Meeting - We learned about loneliness. Next week, we will learn about self-esteem.
*Reading - We identified the causes and effects in our read alouds this week. Next week, we will learn the difference between important and interesting details.
*Writing - We learned about the parts of a letter and started writing friendly letters.
*Math - We continued practicing regrouping with subtraction.
*Science - We learned about the water cycle and started learning about storms.
