With three weeks left in the school year, we're in the homestretch of the year, folks! The kids and I have been discussing how we need to work together to get through the rest of this school year - being respectful of each other and adults, being responsible for ourselves and our jobs, being ready to do our job and listen to each other and adults.
Just a few things to discuss with kiddos (if you please 😉):
- Being on the assigned websites on their Chromebook
- There have been many warnings over the past few weeks so the consequence is currently losing their Chromebook for the rest of the school day for not being responsible.
- Listening to whichever grown-up they are with the first time and listening to each other
- We wrote apology letters to the lunch hostesses and Ms. Causey (P.E.) for not listening this week.
- Toys can come to school for recess, but MUST be in the backpack unless it is recess.
- Getting both Dreambox and RAZ kids done each week to earn Fun Friday time
- Some kids are banking on classtime to get this work done; please encourage your kiddo to use their Asynchronous Mondays and time after school or the weekends to do this work.
- 30 minutes of Dreambox
- 30 minutes of RAZ kids
We are doing well with:
- Coming to school!
- Getting our morning jobs done
- Getting homework done
- Getting Seesaw work done
- Reading quietly to ourselves during reading time
- Helping others
- Knowing what we are supposed to be doing
We had a fantastic Friday and next week is a new week so here's to getting through the rest of the year!
Reminders for Friday, May 21st
- Please make sure your child has completed the following assignments on Seesaw. All these assignments are GRADED and due by 5/25.
- Faces, Edges, and Vertices of a Solid Quiz (math)
- Author's Message Quiz (reading)
- Economics Test (social studies)
- RAZ and Dreambox due by Friday, 5/28
- 30 minutes of RAZ kids
- 30 minutes of Dreambox
- To earn Fun Friday time (extra indoor recess) or it will be used to complete missing work.
- Class Party on Friday, 6/4
- A permission slip was sent home yesterday. Please make sure to sign and return with $5.
- We will watch a movie, eat our lunch and some snacks, and relax after this school year!
Notes
- Per Governor Northam's order and LCPS policy change, the kids can now be mask-less at recess if they choose. Masks are still expected to be worn inside the building unless eating or drinking.
- Sprout orders are now open! You can purchase your child's third grade school supplies in one go.
Week Overview

*Reading - We reviewed author's message - what life lesson can you learn from the book?
*Writing - We continued to write about our opinions. We will start writing comic books next week!
*Math - We learned about 2-d shapes and their attributes. Next week, we will learn about symmetry.
*Social Studies - We continued our economics unit by learning about goods and services, producers and consumers, and scarcity. We will start to learn about nutrition next week in health.
