- Nonfiction Main Idea Quiz on Friday, 3/17 (reading)
- The student will identify the main idea of a nonfiction text and write three supporting details to show why they think that is the main idea.

- Wear sneakers on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for P.E.
- If you do not wear sneakers/tennis shoes/trainers or closed-toed shoes (NO boots), you will not be allowed to participate in P.E. This is a rule from the P.E. teachers.
- Return library books by Wednesday!
- If you do not return your books, you will not be allowed to pick out new books.
- Ice Cream at lunch on Thursday!
- Ice cream is $1.
- House Spirit Days are on Fridays.
- Wear your house color on Fridays to show house spirit.
- Parents can join at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
- Please be sure to bring your ID card to get in the front door.
- You can walk your kiddo back to the classroom after lunch (when Ms. Stiffler comes to pick them up) if you would like.
- Our lunch is 12:20 - 12:50pm.

Reading - We continued learning about our new topic of marine/saltwater habitats with some nonfiction books. We will continue this next week. Follow our learning on our mind map.
Writing - We published our fiction stories and started working on sentence structure. A complete sentence has a subject (who?), a predicate (what are they doing?), a capital letter, and punctuation. We will continue this next week.

Read Aloud - We identified synonyms and antonyms and their meanings. Next week, we will focus on nonfiction main idea and details.
Math - We learned how to measure to the nearest inch using a ruler. Next week, we will learn about measuring using a scale (weight) and a thermometer (temperature).
Social Studies - We started our Famous Americans unit by learning about Helen Keller, Thurgood Marshall, and Rosa Parks. We will learn about Jackie Robinson, Cesar Chavez, and Martin Luther King Jr. next week.
Handwriting - We practiced our print writing this week.
We have a 3-day weekend due to the teacher work day on Monday, 3/13 so I will see the kids at school on Tuesday, 3/14!
