Reminders for Friday, November 21st

Notes
  • Weekly Reminder
    • Return library books by Wednesday each week!
      • If you do not return your books, you will not be allowed to pick out new books.
    • Wear sneakers on Monday and Friday for P.E.
      • If you do not wear sneakers/tennis shoes/trainers or closed-toed shoes (NO boots), you will not be allowed to participate in P.E. This is a rule from the P.E. teachers.
    • Ice Cream will be available at lunch next week!
      • Ice cream is $2.
      • We would prefer that students plan to purchase ice cream on Fridays. Per LCPS, they are allowed to buy it any day of the week. We encourage them to buy ice cream only on Fridays so that they are less likely to make it a competition.
    • House Spirit Days are on Fridays.
      • Wear your house color on Fridays to show house spirit. 
    • Parents can join at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
      • Please be sure to bring your ID card to get in the front door.
      • Please make sure to stay at our table.
      • Our lunch is 12:10 - 12:40pm.
  • Parents as Educational Partners - PEP
    • Please consider joining the Pinebrook Elementary PEP Remind group to get reminders about PEP sessions, EL FACE sessions, and other EL programs offered by LCPS and Pinebrook! Join by going to rmd.at/pnbpep2526 or by texting @pnbpep2526 to 81010.
    • Come join the December PEP session at Pinebrook!

      • Time: 4:30 - 6:30pm
      • Place: Library at Pinebrook Elementary
      • Topic: Language Acqusition, WIDA testing, Safety Online
        • A simple Halal dinner will be provided. 
        • We will have in-person interpreters available for Arabic, Dari, Spanish, and Uzbek languages.
        • We will have online interpreters for other languages.
        • Childcare will be provided.

Week Overview
Reading - We continued to learn about theme - what is the lesson or moral that the author wants you to learn from reading their story. We starting to read fairy tales.
Writing - We finished writing about our opinions. We will start working on our imaginative stories next.
Math - We practiced rounding to the nearest 10 and start working with patterns. We will continue working with patterns next week.
Science We started learning about habitats and ecosystems and how animals adapt to survive in their habitats. We also learned about food chains and interdependence. We will continue this next week.
Handwriting  - We practiced writing manuscript.
