- European Exploration - What and where is Europe? Why did Europeans set out to explore? Why did they go to North America? What happened when Europeans got to North America?
- Washington, D.C. - What is a capital? Why is D.C. the national capital?
- Louisiana Purchase - Who did we buy from? Who helped facilitate the purchase? How did it change the size of the United States?

Notes
- Wear sneakers on Monday and Friday for P.E.
- If you do not wear sneakers/tennis shoes/trainers or closed-toed shoes (NO boots), you will not be allowed to participate in P.E. This is a rule from the P.E. teachers.
- Ice Cream is available at lunch!
- Ice cream is $2.
- We would prefer that students plan to purchase ice cream on Fridays. Per LCPS, they are allowed to buy it any day of the week.
- House Spirit Days are on Fridays.
- Wear your house color on Fridays to show house spirit.
- Parents can join at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
- Please be sure to bring your ID card to get in the front door.
- Please make sure to stay at our table.
- Our lunch is 12:10 - 12:40pm.

Week Overview
SEL/Morning Meeting
Reading -
We found different examples of cause and effect in a text.
Writing -
We worked on a few quick writes and wrote about a second grade memory and our morning routine. Next week, we will write and publish our How-to/Procedural Text.
Math -
We have been learning about one-step and two-step word problems with addition and subtraction. We will continue this next week and start multiplication.
Science -
We learned about plants as a resource and specific plants that grow in Virginia.
Social Studies -
Next week, we will learn about why Europeans came to North America, why Washington D.C. is our capital city, and how the Louisiana Purchase changed the size of the United States.
Handwriting -
We have started going back over cursive. We will be making keychains to 3d print of our names in cursive!Have a marvelous weekend,
