Update for Google Classroom 3/23/2020

Monday, March 23, 2020

Hello, families!

So we are aware that there have been issues getting into Google Classroom. This is a new platform to most of us K-2 teachers as it is to some of you! We are still working out some bugs but hopefully, we have narrowed down a solution.

Each of your students have a school email assigned to them when they enter the LCPS system. It is their student ID at lcps.org (ex. 123456@lcps.org) and their password is their normal password for logging into school computers or LCPS Go! Since each child has an email, they should be able to log into Outlook Email using their studentID@lcps.org and their normal password. In their email, they should have an invitation to join the Grade 2 Google Classroom. You can access Outlook through LCPS Go! or by going to the Outlook main website. On LCPS Go!, the icon should look like this:

OR

After joining, students should be able to access the Google Classroom by going to their LCPS Go! Account, clicking on the Google folder, and clicking on Google Classroom. As a parent, you can be invited to view summaries of your child’s work. If you would like to be invited, please email your child’s teacher and request an invitation; be sure to tell the teacher what email you would like to be used. For more information about Google Classroom and the roles we each play in using it, HERE is a resource from one of our tech people (IFT), Mrs. Clark.

Just to clarify, at this point, we won't be using Google classroom regularly until after March 30th. This time is just for us to work out bugs (like not being able to join the classroom) and allow you and the kids time to explore and find where everything is. So if you're having trouble, please don't stress!

If you are having trouble with your student’s password, please call the Support Center Portal at (571) 252-2112. Our on-site tech folks are not able to reset passwords in our current situation.

Thanks for your patience as we navigate through these new waters of teaching!
Love,
Grade 2 Team
