Native American Project

Due by Tuesday, November 24th

This week we started our unit on Native Americans. In class, we will cover three different tribes: Powhatan, Pueblo, and Lakota. At home, the kids will be expected to complete a project about one of the tribes we have studied. It will be graded.

For their project, students will:

        1. Pick one of the three tribes we covered in class (Powhatan, Pueblo, Lakota)

        2. Complete a Seesaw presentation on that tribe
    • It will include the location, food, home, clothing, and transportation of the tribe.
    • They WILL BE EXPECTED to do research on their chosen tribe to learn more about the tribe and add details that we did not learn in class.
    • Please do NOT submit the project until ALL parts are completed. Encourage your child to take their time and maybe complete 1-2 slides per day. It is 8 total slides.
        3. Create a 3-D project that represents that tribe.
    • It will be shared via Flipgrid so the students can see each other’s hard work.
    • They will be expected to explain what they made and its importance to the tribe.
    • They can really use anything they have at home; you DO NOT need to buy anything for this project.
      • They could make examples of the tribe's home, transportation, clothing, food, jewelry, hunting tools, or games.
      • They could use paper towels, stones, straws, napkins, etc.

It is expected that parents guide and encourage their children throughout the completion of this project, but please make sure all the work reflects your child's thoughts and effort.

I went over this with the kids during our 11/16 morning meeting. You can view the recording on Schoology; I start discussing the project around the 17:00 minute mark.
