 2nd GRADE

Culture Project

Due Date: Friday, September 16th

Dear Families,

While we are learning many new academic skills, the kids and I are learning many new things about each other. To help grow our classroom community, we want to learn more about our personal cultures and families.

Culture is the way a group of people act and what they believe. Family, traditions, holidays, celebrations, food, music, language, clothing, and religion make up a person’s culture. Your student is going to be learning their own culture so they can share it with others in our classroom.

Please help your child fill out the information on each page and talk to them about your family’s culture. They will be presenting their Culture Books with the class.

This project is to be completed AT HOME.

The assignment includes three parts:

  1. Culture Book - complete at home (click for a copy)
  2. Family Photo - bring from home
    • A photograph to post in the classroom; it will help your child feel more connected to home while they are at school.
    • It can be on photo paper or just printed from your printer.
    • If your child has more than one family, they are welcome to bring more than one photo.
    • NO drawings.
  3. Presentation in person

Students will be given three weeks to complete this assignment.  This is another great opportunity to discuss with your child the importance of time management and creating deadlines. It is expected that parents encourage their child throughout the completion of the project; however, all work should be written and created by the child.

Please reach out if you have any questions!
