Reminders for Friday, November 11th
  • Remember your Chromebook and charger every day!
  • 30 minutes TOTAL of RAZ Kids due by Friday, 11/18
  • Report cards sent through ParentVUE earlier this week.
  • Changes in Habitats quiz on Tuesday, 11/15 (science)
  • Basic Subtraction quiz on Wednesday, 11/16 (math)
  • Main Idea AND Details Assessment on Friday, 11/18 (reading)
    • Students will identify the author's message of a fiction story. What life lesson does the author want us to learn from the story? This can also be called the central message.
      • Example.) In Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the author's message is to not take things that are not yours or to be gentle with others' belongings.
  • Fact Families quiz on Tuesday, 11/22 (math)
    • 3, 5, 8 (3 + 5 = 8, 5 + 3 = 8, 8 - 3 = 5, 8 - 5 = 3)
  • No School on the following days to observe Thanksgiving:
    • Wednesday, 11/23
    • Thursday, 11/24
    • Friday, 11/25
Notes
  • Weekly Reminders
    • Wear sneakers on Wednesday, and Friday for P.E.
      • If you do not wear sneakers/tennis shoes/trainers or closed-toed shoes (NO boots), you will not be allowed to participate in P.E. This is a rule from the P.E. teachers.
    • Return library books by Wednesday!
      • If you do not return your books, you will not be allowed to pick out new books.
    • Ice Cream at lunch on Thursday!
      • Ice cream is $1.

    • Sales are open now through 11/20/22.
  • Special PTA Event on Wednesday, 11/16 at 7pm!

Week Overview
SEL/Morning Meeting - We talked about feeling proud and feeling disappointed.
Reading - We practiced getting new information from a nonfiction text.
Writing -  We continued writing about small moments in our lives.
Read Aloud - We identified the main idea of a fiction story and gave three details from the story that support our answer. Next week, we will learn about the author's message (central message) -- what life lesson does the author want us to learn from reading this book?
Math - We started our basic subtraction unit. We will wrap up this unit next week and start practicing fact families. 
Science We learned about Veterans' Day (social studies) and changes in habitats (science). Next week, we will review changes in habitats and then start our Native American unit with the Powhatan tribe.
Handwriting - We reviewed letters h, b, and f.
