Reminders for Friday, October 6th

- Homework packet due on Friday, 10/13

- No School on Monday, 10/9 -- Indigenous Peoples Day
- Number Sense Quiz on Tuesday, 10/10 (math)
- The student will show that they can count forward and backwards by 10s and 100s.
- Growth Mindset Quiz on Wednesday, 10/11 (reading)
- The student will use their background knowledge to answer questions and identify the conflict and resolution of a given story.
- We will grow their knowledge during reading and write ideas on our digital mind map.
- It is not a quiz on growth mindset. It is a quiz of reading skills.
- Adjectives quiz on Friday, 10/13 (writing)
- Fall Photos on Monday, 10/16
- Photo forms were sent home this week.

Notes
- PEP (Parents as Educational Partners)
- There are monthly events for grown-ups/caregivers of English Language (EL students). They are hosted by Mrs. Gustilo and Mrs. Chatila, two of our EL teachers at PNB. All meetings are held at Pinebrook.
- Weekly Reminder
- Return library books by Mondays on B Weeks!
- If you do not return your books, you will not be allowed to pick out new books.
- Wear sneakers on Thursday and Friday for P.E.
- If you do not wear sneakers/tennis shoes/trainers or closed-toed shoes (NO boots), you will not be allowed to participate in P.E. This is a rule from the P.E. teachers.
- Ice Cream is available at lunch on Wednesdays for $1.
- LCPS allows students to purchase ice cream any day of the week.
- As a team, second grade is encouarged to get ice cream on Wednesday to help prevent any chaos (like buying 4 ice creams).
- House Spirit Days are on Fridays.
- Wear your house color on Fridays to show house spirit.
- Parents can join at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
- Please be sure to bring your ID card to get in the front door.
- Our lunch is 12:45 - 1:15pm.

- Everything is $2.
- My expectations are that the kids check in and drop off their backpacks FIRST and that all of their school store items stay in their backpacks.
SEL/Morning Meeting - Family Communication, Home Link for Lesson. We continued learning about growth mindset, the power of "yet", and making mistakes.
Reading - We used our conflict and resolution reading skills while we learned about growth mindset. You can view our ideas on the mind map!
Writing - We reviewed synonyms and learned about antonyms. We also started learning about proper nouns. Next week, we will learn about adjectives.

Math - We practiced our number sense (10 more, 10 less, 100 more, 100 less). We will learn how to compare numbers next week (greater than, less than, equal to).
Social Studies - We shared our culture projects this week and learned about the importance of diversity. We will start our Habitats science unit next week.
Handwriting - Due to testing, we did not get to handwriting this week.
I will see the kiddos again on Tuesday!
