Happy Hannukah to anyone who celebrates (it's the second night tonight)!
Small ask: Due to a writing assignment on Monday, it would be greatly helpful if you could talk with your child about the family plans for winter break. We plan to have them write about at least 3 events. It really could be as simple as "I will be staying home. I will clean my room. I will watch some movies with my siblings." It does not need to be anything fancy (though they can write about their fancy stuff if they are.😉) Thank you!
Pokemon Cards: I do allow Pokemon card trading with three rules. One, it has to be during free time only. Two, they can only trade if they know their grown-ups are okay with it. Three, if someone asks to trade back, they trade back, no questions asked. The kids agreed to this and know that if we have 3 times of upset about it, it's over. Thanks!
Reminders for Friday, December 8th
SEL/Morning Meeting - Family Communication, Home Link
Math - We started practicing 2-digit addition which includes regrouping. We will continue this next week and then start 2-digit subtraction.
Phonics - We learned about the magic e with _ce (ice, nice) and exceptions to the magic rule (love, live, done, have, etc.) We did not learn any new heart words.
Reading - We continued learning about seasons and making inferences. You can check our mind map here.
Writing - We focused on different types of verbs - helping verbs (are, will, am), verb tenses (walked, walks, will walk -- past, present, future). We will learn about contractions next week (she'll = she will, don't = do not, I've = I have)
Social Studies - We started learning about maps and globes (continents, oceans, hemispheres). We will continue this next week.
Have a fabulous weekend,
